Never would I have thought that Durians could really 'frighten' mat saleh. On Friday night, my hubby found and bought a durian as he had promised earlier to his trainer(Britney Le Blanc) that if he could find one(since it's not durian season), he would buy it for the trainer, so that the latter could try our local fruit. Anyway, some brief info - Britney came from Canada to conduct some humanism training at Airod which is part of aerospace engineering field if I'm not mistaken.
So right after hubby bought the durian, he immediately called up one of the Airod managers, Mr Gooi to tell about the durian, since he was the one in charge of all the foreign trainers accommodation and meals, etc. Mr Gooi then generously invited hubby and I for dinner with Britney at a restaurant called Souled Out in Hartamas. I also met his daughter Patricia@Pat. The world was so small when I found out that Pat has been working with Citibank in Risk Management. We also found that Elizabeth, an SM in my department is one of our mutual friends.
But most of the conversation was about DURIANS, which really scared her off. I could see it in her eyes. As a warm up, Mr Gooi suggested durian ice cream, but they don't have it there except for Ais Kacang with durian puree. She was ok in the beginning, but she could not finish it. I told Britney, that honestly I don't like durian myself, but it's not that bad anyway, it's just that the smell is very strong.
After the dinner ended, we offered to send Britney off to her hotel since Holiday Villa Glenmarie where she stayed at was quite near to our house. My hubby kept on reminding her about the durian in our car that she MUST try out. So we suggested to try one before she went in to the hotel. To make things worst, our car was lingered on with DURIAN PERFUME. God. Really strong smell of D24! I bet when Britney was in our car, she could hardly breathe.
It was then time to eat durian. Hubby stationed our car right in front of the lobby entrance. Hubby then opened the durian and placed it at the back of our car. So Brit took a bite, and she went like "oh my God, what's in my mouth", I couldn't really catch the words she mumbled. But it clearly resembled that she could not take it. Poor fella. Hehehe..
Atleast she got to know our local fruit, widely known as the king of fruits!
